15-4-08 - The 2008 Season has now arrived

I started my 2008 season with a 12.5km run in the snow last weekend and then I was off to Clacton over the weekend of 12th & 13th April for the 1st leg of the JP slalom series. It all went very well and started my year off on a high.

I am at the ’GAP’ this coming weekend for Worthing Watersports spring Demo Day. The forecast is not very good   but who says they will be right. Those also attending will be Surf Sales, and Dave White.

Text Box: 30-7-08 - What a busy few months

Following on from my good start to the 2008 Slalom series at Clacton, I have had a very busy few months training, attending events, demo days etc.

I unfortunately missed what turned out to be two crucial events. The first being the Minster leg of the series and then a fortnight later the Aberdovey leg. The financial pressures of attending three events in six week plus equipment replacement etc created a cash flow crisis and in turn a tough decision as to which events to attend.

The fleet completed racing at both these events, which piled the pressure on for me to gain a good result at the Hove event at the beginning of July.

As the Hove event approached, the forecast looked promising, with light but sailable South South westerly’s on the Saturday and Stronger Southerly’s on the Sunday. Despite problems on the Saturday I had a very good event and finished as 1st master in the Challenge Fleet, keeping my series very much alive. Click Here to see my event report. It now means that I will be moving up and competing in the topflight next season.

One week earlier on the 28th June Guy Cribb did his endurance event sailing from Bournemouth to Brighton. I decided to join him for the last two legs from Ferring to Shoreham and then on to the Palace Pier in Brighton. Thanks firstly to John (The Pirate McIntyre) for sailing the distance with me and secondly to Karen Jake, Jay and Pete for being our support team (trying to keep up with us!!!). I really enjoyed the challenge of this kind of sailing and I am planning on taking part and possibly completing the hole distance next year.

On the 20th July I helped Mike & Sue with there Kayak & SUP demo day at Goring Gap. We were blessed with a glorious sunny warm day. Lots of people came to try both the Kayaks and SUP’s that were available on the beach. Click Here to see Photos of the Demo Day

I am currently seeking further sponsorship to enable me to compete to my full potential next season at the top national level. If you would like to talk to me further about the possibility of supporting me please contact me.

21-8-08 - Vinnie is backed by Exocet

I have been talking to Surf Sales and Jamie Hawkins for a while about the possibility of riding for Exocet. I have now received my new boards and I am over the moon with them. I now have a warp 80 and 67 a cross 106 and a x-wave 83. I have had the opportunity during this very windy month to try all 4 and I feel they will give me the edge that I have been looking for.

I would like to thank Jamie, Mike (Worthing Watersports) and Krafty (Surf sales) for helping to get this fantastic backing.

Look out for my results from the next events at Poole next month!!
